Again Niki Browning is the artist.

The cover depicts a scene from the book in which the main character, Alfred Rhys Smythe is battling a female vampire he is attempting to capture. The novel, which is the first part of three in my trilogy entitled "My Soul to Take," will be coming from Mundania Press soon.

There are been a delay in the release of the book and as soon as I have updated information on its release date, I'll post it on my website and here.

"My Soul to Take" is set in 1897 Victorian England and involves a horde of vampires plaguing the city's theatre district. The protagonist character is a college professor who has returned to England after being abroad for many years. The trilogy offers plenty of creepy atmosphere and lots of action as the professor investigates and battles the vampires in an effort to discover the identity of the vampire lord. Part II, "Enter Death, Stage Right," will be released later this year, with Part III, "The Vampire Lord Unmasked," hitting the shelves next spring.

William A. Roark, a vampire, heads back to his small town Virginia roots to end his own life – what there is left of his life, anyways. He finds some surprises along the way that give him a bigger sense of purpose, including a daughter and granddaughter he didn’t even know he had. But danger lurks and threatens his kin as he comes to the realization that another vampire has taken a liking to the blood of his family…and he vows to protect them.

"Weep Not for the Vampire" was a breath of fresh air in many ways, not the least of which was the absence of the overt sexuality that follows many stories of this type. Mr. Veselik pens a dark, intense tale of a love that will not die, despite one of the lovers having been turned into a vampire many years ago. This story proves that vamps can indeed have a heart, and the plot is neatly tied up in a skillful bow. While I felt that this tale could have benefited from a bit more length solely for the purpose of giving more background and details, the story was complete as reviewed, with no gaping holes or plot problems. I much appreciated the uniqueness of this brand of vampire’s powers, and I really enjoyed the poignant sense of humanity that remained in the character of Roark. Beginning in June of this year, the first volume of a three-volume series will be released in trade paperback and ebook. The series is called "My Soul to Take" and the subtitles of the individual books are: "Corpses So Lively," "Enter Death, Stage Right," (Nov. 2007) and "The Vampire Lord Unmasked" (March 2008).

The "My Soul to Take" series is a vampire tale set in Victorian England in 1897. The series protagonist is Alfred Rhys Smythe, a college professor who uncovers a coven of vampires in London's theatre district. There are plenty of cliff-hangers in the series and lots of intrigue and not a small amount of action. The three books total about 260,000 words. I was inspired by the Hammer Films of the late 1950s and early 60s while writing these books and I'm very proud of them.

I'll post more information on my website, www.livelycorpses.com, as it becomes available. My fifth Mundania title will be "Ghost Image," which is again set in my hometown and involves a vengeful spirit and a long-forgotten murder. No publication date is set for this title yet.

William A. My first horror novel, entitled "Weep Not for the Vampire," was recently released by Mundania.com, a company that also publishes works by Piers Anthony and the late Robert Adams (Horseclans series). The setting for the novel is a fictional version of my own hometown in Southwest Virginia. Here's a blurb about the book:

"A vampire, weary of his undead existence and haunted by his recent slaying of an innocent child, returns to his rural Virginia hometown planning to find some method of destroying himself. He unexpectedly discovers a daughter and granddaughter he never knew he had and learns—to his horror—that one of his own kind is now preying on his grandchild. Before he confronts the rival undead, the vampire manages to make his final peace with the wife he left behind and free them both from a love that has survived both the passage of time and the darkness of the grave."

I've received several great reviews so far. You can read them at my website, www.livelycorpses.com/reviews.htm.

I plan to make regular posts to this blog as time permits and I have something worthwhile to write about.
